Somehow, my USB 3.0 ports don't work on the new ASUS Strix 270F Gaming Motherboard -> it was like that from the beginning.
In the device manager, there is the USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller which has a yellow triangle and following error message: This device cannot start. (Code 10)
{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful.
I also was able to install the Intel(R) USB 3.0/3.1 eXtensible Host Controller Driver instead of the standard microsoft one, but that also didn't change the state of the USB 3.0 ports.
I already turned off xHCI Handoff in bios, but there is no change at all. Also legacy support was switched to auto, disabled or enabled, no change whatsoever.
There was this one time, when the USB 3.0 ports worked with xHCI handoff deactivated and legacy support switched to auto, but after a restart, it went back to the old state: not working.
However, when i plug in my external dvd burner into one of those USB 3.0 ports, i can see, that the dvd burner gets power and is able to eject the dvd. So it seems, it's working, but only the power.
one more thing: when an USB Storage/Keyboard is plugged in into those USB 3.0 ports, it's also not shown in bios and therefor not recognized at all.
I'm quite frustrated and don't have any more ideas, what to do in order to get those USB 3.0 ports working. maybe one of you also ran into those problems and found a fix?
Would be very much appreciated for any inputs and help :-)
Regards
I really need help. A couple days ago, my USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller driver stopped working. I don't know what to do, and I've tried cutting the power and restarting, uninstalling the driver and scanning for changes, and searched online for a new replacement driver. However, I could not find one online. The description of legacy usb is that if you have it off, that will disable it for any os that's not 'usb aware'. But I thought flip the switch, because it's 2018 and most os's are usb aware now. It wasn't supposed to work, but it fixed the issue that has baffled me for years. The ASMedia 3.1 port you can forget about, it works just fine as you say. Intel does not have (therefore no one does) USB 3.0 drivers for W 10 although your USB 2.0 ports should still work. You can try the modded drivers in the link that Zuhl3156 posted. When it restarts look at the driver tab for the Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller and the Intel(R) USB 3.0 Root Hub to confirm that you are now running the Intel drivers. To return to the built in Microsoft USB 3.0 driver stack, use the uninstall drivers button from the driver tab in device manager.
I bought a new ASUS Notebook F751LN. Everything seems to work, but if i tried to install the USB3 Drivers the system freezes (no bsod). No log entries except Kernel Power. I tried older and newest version (at least ten different versions form Intel, ASUS, Lenovo, HP etc.) of USB3 drivers. But it is the same behaviour with all drivers. Intel Usb 30 Xhci Host Controller Driver Not Working Windows 7
Now i found a solution. If i enable verifier.exe for iusb3xhc.sys (i choose 'special pool' only) the driver works. I got 112 MByte/sek read speed from a SSD connected via USB3. If i disable the verifier, the system hangs during startup, even in safe mode. Season 9 of adventure time download torrent. Pot farm download game free.
I installed Window 7 another HDD, but it shows the same behaviour. Firmware is updated to the latest available version.
Now to the Question: Why verifier.exe get the driver working, and what can i do to get the driver working without this 'hack'?
