Need to add an additional hard drive to your system but don't have any ports left? Well, the Rosewill RC-212 controller card will provide all the ports you need. Rosewill special 'Magic Switch' design of the RC212 has 2 external and 2 internal SATA ports (all using L-Type connector). You can activate two SATA ports randomly by jumper depending on your needs. In addition, the Rosewill RC-212 features an Ultra ATA/133 IDE port.

If you need, the RC-212 can support RAID in the following modes: RAID 0 (striping), RAID 1 (mirroring), RAID 0+1 (mirroring+striping). The 2 external ports will allow most SATA 1.0a devices to connect with no problems, just make sure the device is compatible. And for those older systems the Ultra ATA/133 IDE port can provide additional expansion for hard drives or other devices.

Last, but not least, the RC-212 includes drivers for most Windows operating systems including Windows 98SE/ ME/NT 4.0/2000/XP.

  • SATA and PATA Combo Design Featuring two internal SATA ports and one ATA 133 port, the Rosewill RC-212 allows you to expand two SATA and two ATA devices to your system.
  • External SATA Ports using L-type SATA connector With two external SATA ports on the bracket panel for easy setup and hot-pluggability, backup photos, videos and more multimedia content in external devices with ease.

Not recommended for primary system
Snapraid encountered an read error - Tested with 1x4TB 5900rpm Hard drive.

Other Thoughts: Highpoint Rocket Raid 1740 (firmware flashed as jbod) and Promise TX4 SATA 300 have no problem with 4TB Hard drives/snapraid/rsync.
TX4 Bios Displays 4TB as 3726GB.

Ownership: more than 1 year
Rosewell

Pros: Retail packaging, lots of extra cables/adapters. Good SATA 1 speed.
Reliable card.

Cons: Tricky to install, have to play with the BIOS settings to get it running smoothly. I don't know if this is truly a con, but thought I'd report it.
It's not like it's 'plug-n-play'.
Floppy disk included didn't work & this was verified on 2 PC's.
Included documentation was on very fine print in several languages, requiring a magnifying glass to read.

Other Thoughts: This card wasn't bought for it's RAID features, so I can't comment on that. It was bought to upgrade a 2004 model Dell Dimension 2400 to run SATA HDD & DVD+RW drives, which it has done a good job of.
Windows XP, if there's no floppy, will require the drivers to be slipstreamed into the OS install CD. With Windows 7, this is a non-issue.
As noted above, it's tricky to install, especially for one who has never installed this type of component. It must be enabled in the BIOS as a bootable device, otherwise no boot.
The RC-212 was the 3rd of these type of cards that I tried & the only one that worked. Quality varies widely between brands. Unless needed, avoid updating the chip's BIOS, these can easily become bricked.
The RC-212 allowed me to run a 320GB WD Caviar Blue in the Dimension 2400 with better speeds over the stock IDE.
Also works well with Linux Mint/Ubuntu.
Would purchase again if needed.

Ownership: more than 1 year

Pros: Worked great while it lasted!

Cons: Died just after its 1 year warranty expired.. Was seldom used.
Caused my new PC to not even post!

Other Thoughts: Bought this card instead of the SYA? card to go with a better name brand.. o well.

Rosewell Sata Pata Controller Driver Windows 7 Version

Ownership: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Easy to install hardware wise, and setup software-wise once after you boot-up the computer let it post (press the tab key repeatedly during the test), it should for a few seconds show a screen displaying some info about the raid card and what devices you have hooked up to it, once that's done, install the driver.

Sata Drivers Windows 10

Cons: Had to RMA the first one, the second internal sata port broke when I was unplugging the sata cable after confirming that the cable was long enough to reach the dvd drives and card so I wouldn't have to go buy some longer cables, and the instructions weren't too entirely clear on how exactly to properly setup the device, sure it may have given a hint or two, but those were mainly through other steps to do other things with the card (ie: set up a raid manually).

Other Thoughts: Customer Service response time was quick and good, submitted a ticket the moment I was able to, and the following day got a response, telling me a replacement is on the way, and received it in about as little as a week (or five business days). Only 4 eggs out of 5 because, half egg for unclear setup instructions, and another half egg for 2nd sata port breaking so easily.

Ownership: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Excellent product that comes with everything you should need, including a driver diskette. This card worked great in a very aged system (running XP) to utilize a SATA HDD I had lying around, as the MB is this rig was IDE only. Great buy.

Windows

Cons: The external SATA ports were a bit misaligned on an old (read: ancient) Dell case, yet was not a real issue.

Other Thoughts: This is a great kit and seemed to be quite versatile in its application. The included diskette came in handy with an XP install.

Ownership: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: I was very impressed when I opened the box.
Comes with two (2) SATA cables, two (2) Molex-to-SATA power adapters, one (1) UDMA ATA cable, low profile brackets, drivers on CD AND Floppy.
Drivers on floppy comes in handy for using this card while installing Win XP on an older machine. No need to make your own driver disk!
Oh yeah, and the card itself works pretty good, too.

Cons: None that I can see.

Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
IDE connection for my new motherboardHyper dragon ball z download for mac. Download hyper dragon ball z, hyper dragon ball z, hyper dragon ball z download free.

Cons: No cons so far

Ownership: less than 1 day

Pros: The card is compatible with a program called Jungle Flasher. That is the reason I bought it. I could not be happier right now. This is the most affordable solution for running Jungle Flasher if your motherboard does not have a compatible SATA connection. Jungle Flasher is used to do advanced functions to XBOX DVD drives. It can help you repair them in many cases by transferring security information from your old drive to your new one. I am so glad my XBOX is working now. I will also be using this controller to connect new devices to my computer, which is what it is designed for. The external SATA ports are great. The PATA ports will allow me to hook up legacy devices as well. All of this for Newegg' s="" price="" is="" unbeatable.="" the="" shipping="" was="" very="" good="" as="" well.="" not="" my="" first="" rosewill="" product="" and="" certainly="" not="" the="" last.="">

Cons: The external SATA ports don't work with Jungle Flasher because it looks for the drive on SATA port 0. The external ones are number 3 and 4. This is the only con and causes me to have to open my computer to use the program. Not a big deal though.

Other Thoughts: Definitely purchase this card it is a great buy and will save you time and money when connecting devices to your computer. The drivers are plug-in-and-play with newer operating systems and the driver diskette and CD are only needed on older Operating Systems like Windows 98.
